Work from Home Monitors

Tue Mar 31, 2020 11:35 am

I assume I'm not the only person working from home. I technically don't need any new monitors, but I've robbed our personal computers to bring my work station online, and I would like to pick your brains for options. What would y'all prefer given the following requirements?

-2560x1440
-27" (approx.)
-DisplayPort
-VESA Mount Compatible (any)

For reference, the robbed monitors are 2 x ASUS PB278Q, which I love. I would consider work-only monitors and gaming-only monitors.
On second thought, let's not go to TechReport. It's infested by crypto bull****.

It's hard to go wrong with one of the UltraSharp monitors from Dell. I've got two of them here that I got a few years ago as refurbs and they've done the job pretty well.
Do not meddle in the affairs of archers, for they are subtle and you won't hear them coming.

Leave your existing monitors on the office PC and get new multi-use/gaming monitors for your home PCs. RTings likes the 27" ASUS TUF VG27AQ, but in the 31½" size, you're going to find VA panels instead of IPS. Dell S3220DGF for $350 at Best Buy might have been a good choice when it was on sale.

(Besides the upsizing from 27") This is what I was thinking. I actually stumbled onto the ASUS TUF VG27WQ independently of the RTings recommendation. That looks like the 2020 upgrade to the VG247AQ. If anything was lost, is was G-Sync, but didn't Nvidia stealth push the ability to use VESA adaptive Sync?

Yes. GeForce GTX10xx and newer cards support FreeSync. Look for a monitor that supports LFC (low framerate compensation). A FreeSync range of 48-120 Hz would be good, but 40-100 Hz would probably also be fine. Any monitor or television that bears AMD's "FreeSync Premium" badge includes LFC and at least a 120 Hz maximum refresh rate. "FreeSync Premium Pro" adds HDR color to that.

Asus VG27WQ uses a VA panel while the VG27AQ uses IPS, IPS has a faster response time but blacks may wash out to gray if you don't turn on a light in the room at night.

Gracious, just logging in after n years of lurking was a chore. Ok, I spent so much time comparing monitors I want to respond to this thread. Rtings likes the LG 27UK650-W. It appears to be the same screen as wirecutter's and rtings favorites, but without the expensive usb-c port. I got it for color balance but I think it has freesync. The bad part is it is backordered, naturally.
There, got that off my chest, back underwater!

Personally, I stay away from Asus displays. They seem to charge a premium for QC lottery. My bias for some time has been towards LG.

I went ahead and picked up the TUF, and so far it is really nice. A little bit darker than the other ASUS monitors (which are on permanent work duty now), but if that's the tradeoff for high refresh rates, it isn't a bad one. I'll let y'all know if anything else comes up.

Great choice, especially if you are into console gaming or watching movies. The HDR should boost your viewing experience greatly and coupled with the VA panel, should be a marked improvement over the monitor it is replacing. The only thing you lose is the wide viewing angles but that shouldn't be a big deal.

I'm not only working from home but also studying, so the whole day I spend on the computer.
I have Dell S3220DGF and I'm satisfied with it. The monitor has the perfect size ( as for me ), and my eyes don't hurt.
I've worked on my deadlines now, and spend up to 10 hours using the computer. It's good that there are a lot of educational resources like https://uk.edubirdie.com/marketing-assignment-help, which helps me to finish my marketing assignment because I'd been working out it for hours and using a laptop for so long time is not good And also if you like gaming, that laptop is also good

Small advice for those who work at home or in office, study and so on, and spend a lot of time using computer- buy special glasses. They will protect your eyes from harmful effect of monitor
