Ill see when i have time. Right now i only have a a4-paper with points of what the whole thing was about, we covered alot of ground in 2.5 weeks there, together with the week in thailand before that too.

Mainly, a friend of mine was doing a practial half year as a social worker in an exchange program in baguio. So me and another friend went down and celebrated christmas and newyear with her and stayed about 2.5 weeks. And as she had already gotten to know people, we kindof got in on that too, which was extremely nice as we wasnt playing tourist and really got to know some people.

I was out on a walk shooting some stuff, only got one keeper, my muse has been really low lately. Still, i found it pretty nice.

The little guy seems like he functions like a normal small largemouth bass ought to in spite of the chunk taken out of his back, there are a lot of snapping turtles around so maybe those did this to him...

Time to get this thread back to the surface once more. Got myself a new watch a few days ago, but i couldnt find any good images how the watch really looked instead of showing the features(like the product images) so i had to roll my own so to speak. Still didnt get the reflective parts as i wanted and it was lots of other tiny faults here and there, but then, it was a quick shot.

He, that was one of the tiny faults that was here and there. DOF got quite short, so yes, as the face is slightly slanted, the DOF doesnt cover all of it as it should if it wasnt a quick snapshot. Compare the upper part vs. the lower part of the face.

Some of the other faults include having my dinner(can of meatsoup) being reflexted in the upper bracelet part of the watch, and not having lit the watch with tiny spots and getting a better angle that would bring out the more reflective parts beside the face. Also, the time should have been set to actually reflect the shape of the face and arms. Also, all highlights actually got a blue fringing that i had to lessen before i shrunk it, not much to get away from that as long as you use digital. Overloaded cells are overloaded cells.

But yeah, thats if you are picky, which i am for my product shots that goes into the magazine, but not for a quick, "look-heres-my-new-thingy" shots.

Hmm, that was a handheld shot under the weak kitchen counter light, so probably F/2.8 or perhaps F/4 at the most. Tamron 90 Macro.

This looks like crap . Took it with my cheap digital instead of the good one . Lighting wasnt very good at the time , no tripod , and its 5 photos ran through a stitch program . But it kind of gets the point across . ITS REALLY TALL . The quality of the bottom stitch is terrible . When i get a minute i will fix that .

It's my spare-parts Model M. I removed the keys from the Print Screen block, and pulled an I, a B, and an M, and popped them in that location. Then, I used my Crappy Snake Webcam(tm) to take that pic (that's why it's 352x288...)

javadog, that picture of the aquarium looks like a screenshot of a game more than a picture. How did you do that? (it's the chain that looks rendered)

The chain does look rendered, but the whole ship looks like it has that 3DMark2005 glow to it. The picture is a bit blurry, so it looks ethereal.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it's very well done.

That tower looks nice and tall, too. Too bad you can't lock the camera settings to take multiple pictures.

I was down there for the game against LTU. What a slaughter that was, we at least tripled all their stats during the game. For what it's worth, my seats were more or less directly across from the vantage point from which that picture was taken. Look horizontal across the field, and a bit to the right and a little bit down and I'm there.

This is something quite unheard of in western NY, a large cat print. I may have gotten really lucky and have the first hard evidence of one inthe wild! The DEC has been searching for proof for a while apparently, and I have it!

I've got 2 cats and a dog; that print is definitely from a cat.

According to this LINK, the size of those prints argues for a bobcat. Big cat prints (mountain lion et al) would be 3" by 3.5" and the picture sure looks more like the 1.5" by 1.5" typical of bobcats.

I superimposed the quarters. Either my quarters are unnaturally small, or that is one BIG bobcat. I have seen bobcat prints, and they are not this large. We do have bobcats, but you can usually identify thier prints because they are surrounded with a fur ring, especially this late in the season.

Remember a quarter is just shy of an inch. So this is a smaller mountin lion if it is one. Possibly a young one.

A local outdoors expert agrees, he has never seen a cat print this large. It is almost 2x what he is used to seing.

I stand corrected as to size. That is a big cat.

We've had much the same issue here in VT. Many long-time woods types see mountain lions (called catamounts 'round here) and their prints, but the Fish & Wildlife people refuse to believe the sightings, or claim it's an "escaped exotic pet".

I think they're waiting for one to show up as road kill.

There was a very cool article in Harper's Magazine a while back about the Eastern Panther. April 2004, "Aslan Resurrected"

There are many people in the mountain areas up and down the east cost who have seen evidence of mountain lions, but never any hard proof. The most bizare thing is that the feds, whether EPA, Fish & wildlife, Game, whatever, all deny that they are around. There are a number of people who believe that there is some sort of small conspiracy going on. Some say the feds are secretly reintroducing them, some that the feds want cover it up the fact that they never totally left. The most bizarre thing is that most of the best evidence, like a video tape that one guy sent to F&WL, gets "lost".

There's even a group that's trying to find more proof, composed half of amateur wildlife researchers and half conspiracy guys. The Eastern Puma Research Network, unfortunately they don't have a website.

I don't know if that track is well preserved enough to be hard proof though. The overall shape looks much more like a cat than a dog, but you can't see the three lobe structure in the heel pad.

Next time you see a track like that, take lotsa pics from all angles and then take a cast.
