Secret Squirrel: Can you link to those images and put smaller (1024 pixels wide or fewer and 100KB in total size or less) images in their places? 1600 pixel images break the tables for most monitors.

Nice shots though.

Another Spider Picture

Hey, I was looking around the Photo Forum and saw the picure Falbay99 posted of a spider. I believe that is called a spitting spider. They are supposed to be harmless. But I guess they spit some sort of venom at their prey to catpure them. Here is a nasty little spider that I can't identify.

Image

I am pretty sure it's harmless but it looks menacing to me. I live in Texas and the only two venomous spiders are the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse. This isn't either but doesn't he look deadly?

At a place called the blowhole, because of a hole in the rock that the waves get pumped up through there's a lighthouse.

Here it is:

Sorry I live in San Antonio, Texas. But they do kinda look like those Black Mesa monsters from HL. Good catch!
But I do have another picture of something Black. I took it yesterday just after the one in my previous post. Here it is!

Image

I just moved closer to the country so my odds of surviving with these guys around may be slim. I also killed a brown recluse the other night.
I tried to snap some photos of it but it was too dark and they kept comming out blurry. He was about two times smaller than this Black Widow. I think I need a better camera.

I hope I don't hijack this thread but Element what is up with your "Website"??

You better check to see if it violates the forum rules or something.

Yes, that is the Jefferson Memorial.

I shot all the first one of the New York City skyline with a Nikon D100 and a Nikon 85mm f/1.4 lens. I shot the other two with the same camera and a Nikon 80-400 f/4-5.6 lens. I believe the exif data is preserved if anyone wants to look at that.

All of my pictures were with either my 300D or my A75 (the earlier ones were all with my A75). The EXIF data is intact for all of my shots, so if you want the particulars just save the pictures and and view the advananced properties.

Snapper: really nice shots.

I was trying to get a good angle on this bugger but he wouldn't quit moving.

Hello, All,

I'm a professional photographer and have been lurking a bit on this forum to see what would be posted.

I'm very impressed with much of the work...the macro and low light stuff in particular! I don't make judgments or critical observations on composition....or at least, try to shy away from doing so because I'm a technical photographer, not an artist, and because I know how impossible it is to read the mind of a photographer exercising their artistic muscles.

Of all the photos on this thread, I'd like to especially salute Snapper's dusk image of the Jefferson Memorial. Snapper...don't beat me up for this, please, but I pulled the image and (For Educational Purposes Only):

Took some contrails, background lights, and reflections of those background lights out.

Changed the color balance of the sky, water, and monument

    Reformatted and sharpened the image.

This shows what can be done within the digital format, especially given a very pretty original.

Hat's off to you!

lgeis, I am not at all offended that you modified my picture. I appreciate constructive criticism, and I am impressed with what you were able to do with the picture. The original, although pretty, just doesn't look realistic. I was never able to satisfactorly get the results you did. Perhaps I didn't work at it long enough, or I just need some more post-processing practice. Also, thank you for the kind comments.
