Does this have a temperature probe that I stick on the CPU heatsink? The description doesn't say anything about that. I have never used one of these. Alternatively, please recommend something that can display CPU/GPU temperature on an LCD display and that does come with temperature probes.

It says it has a CPU temperature probe even though there isn't one in any of the pictures.

TBH my bigger concern would be how you're going to get good thermal coupling between the probe and the CPU without compromising the thermal interface between the CPU and HSF. Ideally the probe should be in contact with the center of the CPU's metal lid; but in order for that to work, you need to mill a narrow groove in the base of the HSF for the probe and its wire, and I doubt you want to deal with that.

Any other method of attaching the probe to the CPU is not going to give you meaningful temperature readings, so there's not much point.

A better approach would be software that just uses the CPU's existing internal temperature sensor, and some sort of programmable display you can show that info on.

I could use this too. But USB HD interface? Do they mean mini-HDMI? And if I use this as my 2nd monitor, will Windows 10 know not to send the same high resolution as my primary monitor to this display or will it try to force the poor thing to display the higher resolution?

I managed to overlook that. Temperature probe for system temperature? Where would one stick that?

No. Prolly just plucks temperature from whatever the BIOS provides. Likely the same data you get with HWiNFO.

You have the sensors built in; you just need the display; they are cheap.

Wherever you want! There's no formal definition of what a "system" temperature is AFAIK. If I was using it, I'd probably put it in the VRM area.

In order to do that it would need some sort of data connection (e.g. USB) and software. I see no mention of anything like that.

FWIW, there's another seller who appears to have the exact same product (https://www.amazon.com/5-25-inch-Fan-Sp ... 01LN3YJPO/) and one of the user reviews (one star ) mentions sensors.

TBH this is not a product I would buy. As I noted already, I doubt you'll get accurate CPU temps from it. Furthermore, the display just looks kind of obnoxious (and I'll bet there's no way to turn the brightness down either).

Even cooler if the protocol is well-documented, allowing it to be used as a general-purpose external display device.
