I recently assembled my first system, which included a HAF922 and a Corsair TX750. Because this system is sitting on carpet, I figured I shouldn't aim the power supply at the bottom of the case, so I installed it upside down (the case provides mounting holes that allow for that). Right now I'm not overclocked at all and I'm using a pretty cheap tower heat sink on the CPU, but I have an H70 on the way and I plan on overclocking. I've also got a 5850 in the system.

Is having the power supply upside down going to be a problem? Should I find a way to get the PC off the carpet and install it the other way, or will it not be an issue? Should I put a side fan in to provide more cool air for the power supply to suck in?

the big fan on the PSU sucks air in and blows it out the back of the computer
when you put it upside down it reduces the air pressure in the case around the GPU, chipset, with a HAF922 it wont really matter
if you are worried about dust from the floor dont worry about it, just clean your computer with can air as you normally would

if you are asking will putting it upside down decrease the life expectancy on the ball bearings and other moving parts?

I would just put it in the regular way so it would bring in air from the outside

I was concerned that with it sitting on carpet, it wouldn't get enough air into the bottom since the case is sunk down in a little bit. It may have trouble getting fresh air to the PSU.

it is completely fine "upside down." it actually seems to be the preferred method of mounting your psu since the psu fan will exhaust the heat from your vidoeo card. it will cause a slight increase in the temps of your psu, but it is not enough to worry about...maybe a few degrees. i have had my corsair 550w mounted this way for as long as i can remember in my coolermaster stacker...and the psu i had in there before this one was mounted the same way....no problems ever.
