How to disable RAID-1 (dell t7500 sas6ir)

Mon Feb 06, 2017 7:21 pm

I have acquired an older dell t7500 2x x5670 48GB w 2 1TB HDDs in RAID-1 (mirroring) with the sas6ir controller. I think I want to just have 2 separate 1TB drives (maybe install linux on one and dual boot). There is no existing data to worry about. In the BIOS utility I see various options that might be relevant (Delete Array, delete virtual disk, remove volume) - before I do something stupid, does any one know the right way to disable RAID on this set up?

just brew it!

If there is no existing data or OS that you want to keep this is pretty low-risk. Even if you mess it up, there's no permanent harm.

I would expect there to be a setting that is labeled "AHCI" or "Non-RAID" or something similar. If not, you could try just deleting the array and see what happens.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
