Micro SD Card with File System corrupted

Tue Feb 14, 2017 6:54 pm

Good day all,

I have a micro SD card that was inserted onto a car radio/music/gps system.

My car can no longer read the gps data.

when I inserted onto my windows 10 pc it tells me file system corruption.

I have some questions.

1.Can I get my gps files back? I also have some mp3 that I bought.

2. Can this micro SD be fixed? If so, how much can I trust it?

Tell it that you don't want to scan it for the time being and see if it shows up as a drive in This PC. I wouldn't want to do anything other than copying files out of the card, and if you're a bit paranoid you could also try file recovery software (I don't know how well it works for SD cards, though)

If you can't view it in Windows you can try the free version of Recuva to pull information off of it.

Helpful fix tips:
Change the SD card drive letter: Insert the SD card into your computer > "Disk Management" > right click on the SD card > "Change drive letter and path" > Set new drive letter > Check if you can access it again.
Check and repair the file system error (CMD) on the SD card: Insert the damaged SD card into the PC> Click "Start" > "Computer" > Under "Removable Storage Devices", find the SD card and note it Drive letter > Click the "Start" button again > type "cmd" in the search box > right click "cmd.exe" > "Run as administrator" option > type command: chkdsk [SD card drive number]: /f /r/x>Enter key.
