Kudoz for TR's SSD Endurance Experiment

Tue Mar 14, 2017 3:01 am

I just wanted to congratulate you for succeeding in shattering the poor SSD endurance myth that was predominant prior to your Experiment.

I have just spotted a mention and a link to the concluded test on HP Enterprise on the subject of SSDs in Enterprise Storage. Here it is:
insights.hpe.com/articles/its-time-for-enterprise-ssds-why-clinging-to-traditional-storage-arrays-is-slowing-your-business-1702.html?jumpid=em_d1a3nwmz7g_aid-510204404

Sorry for the lack of a hyperlink, I've no rights for that (yet?)...

Cheers everyone, and keep on the good work.

Welcome to TR, and hey that's pretty cool.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Pretty cool indeed!

3d NAND and TLC NAND both are lowering overall write endurance, so modern drives are going to be much different. The Intel 600p's 144TB rating is a far cry from the 700TB rating of an Intel 335 for example, and the Intel 335 was the first to go in Tech Report's endurance test.
