Lite-on firmware upgrades / experiences.

Thu Nov 21, 2002 10:50 pm

I have a 48/12/48 lite-on burner... capable of a flash upgrade, yeah? Just wondering if anyone's had any bad experiences with these upgrades.

Also anyone got any links? All I could find were firmware upgrades that made more media available or something, is there any ones that upgrade the speed (It is fast enough already, just wondering how fast it can get.)

I have a lite-on 24X burner, and I did upgrade the firmware, but only because there was a problem with the drive bay door staying open (even when the machine was off). E-mailed tech-support, updated the firmware, been working great since (at least a year). I don't think you can upgrade the speed, there are only a few special cases where two drives are pysically the same but have different firmware speeds.

Also, why would you want to speed up a 48X?

No probs flashing my 24102B from 1S07 to whatever the latest is. The installer didn't support flashing from such an early firmware rev., but I did it anyway. YMMV.
