I have a friend that just installed Windows XP Pro and keeps receiving an error about a "device or application disabled" when booting to the desktop. Then it refers to the adaptec website. He has not installed any CDRW software. I checked event viewer and it gives some error about a UDF driver. Any suggestions?

Is he utilizing an Adaptec SCSI controller? Perhaps one of those cheap, DB-25 external only controllers? I am speaking of the type that come with HP scanners.
