Windows 7 WU Fix

Tue Jul 12, 2016 4:11 pm

  1. KB3020369 - Windows 7 x86 | Windows 7 x64
  2. KB3138612 - Windows 7 x86 | Windows 7 x64
  3. KB3145739 - Windows 7 x86 | Windows 7 x64
  4. KB3153199 - Windows 7 x86 | Windows 7 x64
  5. KB3172605 - Windows 7 x86 | Windows 7 x64
  6. KB3161664 - Windows 7 x86 | Windows 7 x64

Based upon the fixes listed in this article. I've created an ordered list for install and provided download links for each.

  • These can be applied via DISM to your WIM image for future imaging.
  • These can be applied to the OS after a fresh install via Audit Mode and then captured into a new WIM image to become your permanent media.
  • These can be applied via a Task Sequence in MDT or SCCM as part of your imaging.
  • These can be simply applied after install manually.

Thank you Ryu for the helpful post. :)
It would take you 2,363 continuous hours or 98 days,11 hours, and 35 minutes of gameplay to complete your Steam library.
In this time you could travel to Venus one time.

Had to use the illicit mojo on the work lappy to install 3161664 after the MS-initiated (we don't use WSUS in our office) update cycle ground for 2 hours today. Cut the search time to between 5-10 minutes (I wasn't really paying attention).

Now to find a way to finagle the Other Federal Agency (I've spoken about their IT incompetence several times here, calling them exactly that) into making the simple registry fix that has prevented my OFA from processing Windows Updates since after the March 2016 cycle.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Wow, this issue has been plaguing me for a bit.

I believe these updates are included in the convenience roll-up?

I believe some, but not all are.

Some of these updates were from as late as July 2016.

Thank you for posting this, I need to give it a shot. I found an old Windows 7 install sitting on a small partition that I had completely forgotten about. It's a valid installation of Windows 7, 64-bit, with SP1, and a paid copy of MS Office 2010 on it. I figure I might as well keep it around in case it might be useful.

But I hadn't booted into it since November of 2014, apparently. It starts fine, but Windows Update goes nowhere - I left it running overnight (so ... 8 hours?) and it accomplished nothing. So I'll see whether this sequence of patches can fix the problem and get me to the point where I can properly update the system.
