Playing with the Winsxs folder (50,000 files).
a) Don't do that.
b) If you're trying to free up space, keep in mind that Explorer mis-reports directories with hard links in them, as Explorer is dumb and counts each file separately, even if they point back to the same data stream.
This article has a few pointers and legit tools you can use to help reduce the size of the winsxs folder, but the TL;DR: is don't mess with it unless you enjoy reinstalling Windows from external media.https://www.thewindowsclub.com/winsxs-f ... indows-7-8
Ok, it was installed as a dual boot W7-(partition C) and W10-(partition W)
Not an upgrade by W10 so there is no "Windows.old" stuff to delete.
I have it set to boot directly to W10 and want to make more room on C just not sure exactly what all I can delete on "C" without messing W10 up. I"m thinking that I should be able to delete all of the W7 C: "Windows" directory.
At least I have it imaged in case I go too far. Don't want to nuke everything and reinstall W10 Clean.
Thanks to all for the links.
