"0patch" program

0patch claims to install live patches to Windows 7 and Windows programs, and in particular to provide patches after Microsoft stops supporting Windows 7. It's free for personal use.
This is a good idea in principle, but the devil is in the execution. This
review (three years old) isn't very favourable. There's information and a discussion
here and
here.
Do gerbils have an opinion?

I only skimmed the page, but is there any explanation on where these patches are coming from? I'm confused why someone would think a widget from Anonymous Widget Co. would fix the problem of there being no more patches.

Not familiar with this specific one, but maybe another "indie" Microsoft updates index and downloader?
Even after normal EOL Microsoft releases updates for special/embedded/whatever customers. Wikipedia says 2023.

by just brew it!
Unless you have a legacy application or device which is incompatible with newer versions of Windows I wouldn't bother messing around with something like this. Using a random 3rd party tool to apply 3rd party OS and application patches on-the-fly using an unofficial patch installation mechanism sounds like it would be unreliable/ineffective at best, dangerous at worst.

Not to mention that it's also a pretty good description of malware.

That's the "dangerous at worst" part!
