XP Home screensaver stopped working. Why?

Sat Nov 09, 2002 9:16 pm

When I upgraded to XP Home I formatted a new hard drive and did a completely fresh install. All of the features of XP including the standard screensaver worked. After a few months the screensaver function stopped working. The thing works in the display properties, but won't activate no matter how long I wait.

I have checked to see if something that is running is causing it problems by the usual msconfig method... one at a time off course. Nothing works.

This is what I have running according to TaskManager...

I dont have any idea why the screen saver quit working but a fix most likely would be to pop in the xp disk and do a repair on xp. That should take care of your problem.

I've noticed similiar problems on my desktop. What I do is change the timer setting of the screen saver, hit apply, and then change it back. That usually works for me. YMMV however.
