Completely Normal for a Win 8 install. If you want to see the files, you need to (from File Explorer), click view, options, change folder and search options, view, and uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" box.

Exactly. And it's been like this for a long time - this option existed in Windows XP, Vista, and 7 too.

I wanted to see those files. I thought putting those check marks would do that. Getting into the folder options and doing more changes solved the problem.
Thanks everyone for your responses.

The reason "show hidden" didn't show them is because they've got the "system" attribute set instead/additionally.

Check the 200MB System Reserved Partition you can see it in disk management, the boot manager etc. reside in this hidden partition.
It would take you... 2233 continuous hours or 93 days, 1 hour, and 20 minutes of gameplay to complete your Steam library.
In this time you could... Speed run Super Mario Bros (NES) 26,800 times.

There is no such as 200MB System Reserved Partition. The bootmgr is in the C: drive. See the snap shot as follows:

How about control panel - folder options - View tab - check off hide protected operating system files

Edit: Works for me the boot manager gets hidden when checked, and checked off I can see the boot manager. Out of ideas after this suggestion somebody else maybe can take a crack at it if it doesn't work. Trying to help btw :)
