W8 image viewer

What's a good third party program that duplicates the functionality of WinXP's image viewer -- that is, one that can display all the standard graphics files, and also show animated GIFs. The W8 one doesn't show animated GIFs, and it's quite annoying.

This might sound crazy but my solution for this problem has been using Chrome. Though Firefox or even Internet Explorer work as well. Basically I don't need/want all the features/baggage of a dedicated image viewer.

I guess there's also... the Modern UI image viewer does display animated gifs. But I totally understand not wanting every image you open to take over your computer.

This has been my favorite image viewer since Windows 98:

It does just about everything.

Finding a good image viewer is hard. Maybe impossible. I'm yet to find one that does all I want, and particularly that works the way I want.

My usual viewer as of late is Imagine: http://www.nyam.pe.kr/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14
