So, this morning I found out that I couldn't control GRUB with my cordless keyboard. It's the Logitech LX310 combo. Once Linux loads, everything works as it should.

So, is this a GRUB problem, or a hardware problem?

I'll be willing to bet your bios doesn't detect the kb, as grub doesn't try to do any hardware detection. If it's one of those usb units where both they kb and the mouse run off the same usb plug that's probably why.

Does the keyboard let you enter the BIOS? Are any keyboard errors displayed when POSTing?

GRUB runs off the BIOS devices. You'll need to go in to the BIOS (probably with a PS/2 keyboard) and enable "Legacy support for USB devices" or whatever it is called in your BIOS.

That is the solution. I was able to get into the BIOS without using my PS/2 keyboard -- my cordless worked just fine. And the option is called Legacy Support for USB Devices. Made it really easy to fix the problem.
