Have you tried using the SVGA server? It should be enough to get X going.

You might try to grab XFree86 v.4.2. I could be wrong, but I think RH7.2 has version 4.0.3 or maybe 4.1. Depending on what you want your Radeon to do, 4.2 may provide good enuff support.

I agree, try to install the latest version of X...they're good at fixing things when they release a new version.

Thanks for all U guys who took your time to help me!!

I downloaded XF 4.2 (RH 7.2 comes with 4.1) and selected ATi All-In-Wonder and it worked fine!! now running Gnome at 1260x1024 24bit!! (there is an All-In-Wonder in 4.1 too, but it won`t go... btw the SVGA won`t go either... I get a system lock-up when trying to use SVGA)

Thanks a lot!

Hey fleury, does the All-in-Wonder server let you use the tuner or video I/O? Or allow hardware MPEG decoding? I'd love to use mine in Linux!

Hi,
I'm having the same problem as fleury.

Only I'm worse off.. I'm new to linux, and I don't know how to install programs or anything like that. I'm want to download all the files for Xfree86 4.2, but when I'm in linux (i'm using win2k right now, btw), i can't mount my windows hard drives.

How can I read the files from my other drives?

Are there any good websites that I would be able to get this sort of info from?

thanks
elp...

Speed, I really don't know... Actually I'm a newbie I and so happy I could make the video and my MP3s work that I forgot everything else LOL =) ...

EyeLike, check the other forum (Drivers - Graphics - http://www.tech-report.com/forums/viewt ... &forum=3&6)

I explaind how to install XF86 in a message that I've just posted there...

In that message I asked you if you could read your NTFS files there... but I guess you can't huh ? =)

Well... as I can't either, I made a FAT32 partition so Linux and WinXP can both, read and write... But I don't know about Win2K, can it read FAT32 ??

I'll start a new topic in this forum trying to get some help in mounting NTFS partitions under Linux ... think you should keep an eye there too ...

Good luck guys!
