I guess I missed this news when it first hit, but Canonical is moving to a 5 year support cycle
for both LTS (long term support) variants of Ubuntu Linux, starting with the next LTS release (which is due in a couple of months). Previously, only the "server" variant got 5 years of support.
Good news for Ubuntu fans!
