Plenty. As long as it was written and compiled for the Linux kernel. Even somethin written for Windows can be run using emulation software such as Wine.

Also you can use the CrossOver software to run some windows apps like office or internet explorer. It can also make some web browser plugins like quicktime work which can come in handy.

Also keep in mind that if you want to set up a server (file/e-mail/web), or do software development, most -- if not all -- of what you need already comes bundled with the Linux distro. Many distros also come bundled with OpenOffice, which is a pretty decent office productivity suite (reasonable replacement for MS Office, unless you're heavily into automating stuff via VB scripting, or other esoteric applications).

yeah wine blows, too many bugs still.... for something more stable, try vmware:

http://www.vmware.com/download/

* New Operating System Support.
Get the freedom to choose the operating systems and applications that work best for you. VMware Workstation 4 provides support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Red Hat 8.0, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS, SuSE 8.0, 8.1, Enterprise Server 8, Mandrake 9.0.

* New Linux User Interface.
The Linux user interface is completely refreshed and updated and is now as functional as the Windows edition of VMware Workstation.
