Thanks to everyone who is participating in the noble cause. Based on the number of posts, my own included, and points one can see interest is waning. Personally, it's lots of fun tinkering with my little systems and chatting with Frankie's minions.

Fired up my main rig. Got a late start because I've been out of town for work. Wimpy little 60k ppd estimated on the F@H client right now. I can't remember what is typical for an i5-3570K and GTX660.

That's still way better than my FX-8320 with no GPU!

I've got 3 doing ~18,000 PPD (total!) but my new main laptop is doing more (~150k)......every little bit helps!

14th-16th were below average for this year, but we've picked back up for the last two days....

I for one am not so worried about waning interest. There are many other things people could be busy with these days, and if you really look at the numbers, we're not THAT far behind last month; maybe less than 4 million points. A couple of our heavy-hitters never switched over to Frankie and there could be a number of reasons for that. It doesn't necessarily mean people are losing interest in Frankie or in folding.

Besides, with luck, maybe a few more people will see this thread on the front page and decide to join. We have 6 full days to go. Halloween is on a Saturday this year. For some reason I'm looking forward to that. :D

I'm out. For some reason my machine keeps crashing. Haven't been able to keep it up for more than about 12 hours at a time. Time for troubleshooting mode...

Power or cooling are the most likely culprits.

I have never folded before in my life but I just downloaded the client and let it rip on my i7-3770K GTX970 rig. Team 2630 right?

Yes, 2630, TRFrankenbot is the spelling.

Edit: You should also use the passkey, which I just sent you.

Just to clarify: If your intent is to participate in this year's TRFrankenbot effort, set your team to 2630, and your user name to TRFrankenbot. You also need to set the client to use the TRFrankenbot passkey (check your PMs) to ensure you get any "early turn-in" bonus points that are available for the WUs you crunch.

I am fairly regularly bringing in about 450,000 points per day. Mostly x18 work units, but also lots of x21 WUs.

On the home stretch. Thanks everyone! 22.3 M is our likely target. 23 M points - a small stretch. Can we do it?

@homerdog - thank you for giving this a try.

Update on my system crashes: It appears to be a RAM problem. I installed a second matching 2x4GB kit of RAM and a new PSU right before I started Frankie folding. Reinstalled the old PSU with the 2nd pair of DIMMs still in and got the same crashes. Hooked the new PSU back up and removed the 2nd kit and it's been folding fine for over 48hrs. Very odd. I ran memtest on only that set when I got it for....12+ hours to make sure it was ok, and I ran it again on all 4 DIMMs for 8ish hours when I had this problem and no errors both times. Could it be the memory controller on the chip you think? Perhaps the 100% CPU load while folding is causing the instability that doesn't materialize when it's just memtest. Maybe I'll try Prime95 instead. I wouldn't think that 4 sticks of 1.25V DDR3 would stress the memory controller much, maybe I'll try adding a pinch of voltage. What are typical voltage increments when OCing RAM?

[Add] All temps are well withing acceptable limits. <60C on the CPU, similar on the GPU. With the the 2nd RAM kit and original (known working) PSU, folding with the side panel off didn't improve stability.

With about 14 hours to go, I'll add my thanks to all Frankie contributors! We won't surpass last year's record total, but that's quite all right. And my hope is that a few of us will do some upgrades in the next 11 months so that next year we may be able to go for 40 million. Hey, it could happen! :)

DPete, memory is a weird thing. Could be one bad stick or could be one stick that misbehaves, but only in one certain slot. Or it could even be a bad slot. I hope you figure it out. Folding does not use a lot of memory, but who knows how memory is allocated. As I understand it, later versions of Windows use a different way of loading things into memory with each boot, to make it more difficult for malware to know where all the furniture is. So with 16 GB, it's possible (likely even) that some memory in the new sticks was being allocated for folding, other apps, or for Windows, even if the first pair of sticks wasn't fully allocated yet. Who knows.

If you care, you could try different combinations of the sticks in different slots. Or just send the second set back for replacement, and be sure to do it before the warranty period expires.

Once again, Happy Halloween to all and thank you for awakening Frankie this scary season!

EDIT: I just looked at the stats, and I see that Frankie has gone into afterburner mode. Must be a few new folks joined us in the last few days. Welcome, and thanks!

@DPete27 -

Have you tried running with *only* the new RAM kit? That might tell you whether it is a problem with one of the new sticks.

Does your motherboard automatically relax timings and/or lower the DRAM clock when all slots are filled? Some do, some don't, and in some cases this is necessary to achieve stability when all of the slots are in use.

Frankie made 24.5 million for October. Not bad! Thank you to all, and to the latecomers too.

I switched back once all of my in-process work units showed that there'd be no way they could finish for Frankie by the witching hour. The ship is underway once again...

A very, very good effort. More points than two years ago. The most wu's ever, at 5,076. I had 2 of 3 PC's folding with the app inside of the Chrome browser. Those wu's are small but seem to yield more points than A4's. I know that GPU's rule.

Can someone do a customary screen cap of the output to see if it is scary enough?

When I turn the graph sideways, it looks like a falcon perched in Romero's hair. Ref Escape from New York. Plenty scary!
