Yeah, I came back online on Monday. I think a lot of people have to shut down their slots on weekends. For me it was stuff going on at the house. I needed to avoid generating heat and sucking in dust.

Sometimes weekends are rough for me like that, but I should be able to let my rig run all the way through this weekend and Monday.

If production level is maintained then 50mil is within reach. It is the make or break weekend! :D

And there's another target on the way to 50,000,000: only 4,074,337 more points needed to double last year's total for October!

Well, it looks like the last set of "game ready" drivers may have messed up my 1070's folding abilities. Ever since I installed the latest two driver versions (currently on 375.70), my GPU slot has failed. Anyone else having similar issues?
Edit: I rolled back to version 373.06 and everything seems fine now. Seems like 375.63 and 375.70 do not like folding with my GPU for some reason.

Unless something goes off the rails, looks like Frankie will surpass 40 million. Thanks to all of the GPU high-voltage! It's been a fun month.

50 million, yes. I can't blame the keyboard for that mistake.

Thanks again to everyone who participated. It was a great month.

As usual please screen cap the "scary graph" after a few days (to get some symmetry) and list some numbers for posterity. ;)

10.16 50,999,539 5,315 Work units

At this writing, we still have 2 more reporting periods for the month of October. We'll surely exceed 51 million points for this year.

Frankie rocked the house this year!

The last few years, participating in folding for Frankie has kind of become a tradition for me. It kind of ends the year for me (well, the summer at least) when we all start switching our gear over, and then throughout the month, it builds up to Halloween, costumes, and the neighborhood trick-or-treaters that come to my house.

In a way, Frankie kicks off the end of the year holidays for me, which is cool.

If you click on the "monthly" graph on EOC, you can see that our recent record was 30 million in 2014. We have shattered that record this year, nice. :D

I can't seem to upload a JPG image of the "scary chart". Does this forum allow upload/attachment photos?

The IMG tags are for pics hosted on a public server. I don't have one of those... :-?

No direct uploads. That said, all you need is a Dropbox account and you can link to that.

I decided to throw my Vega 64 for folding to see how well it performs over my previous 660Ti. Vega 64 pulls in a respectable 600K-700K PPD which is about 980Ti and Maxwell Titan territory for somewhat higher power consumption. Pascals are still superior at raw performance and efficiency at folding though. Vega is AMD's best GPU at folding to date though.

Ivy Bridge 3570K, 2x4GiB of G.Skill RIPSAW DDR3-1600, Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H, Corsair CX-750M V2, and PC-7B

Hmm. How out are AMD's TDPs? IIRC, my RX Vega 56 is rated at 210 W and my R9 290X at 250 W, and I've a 750 W Seasonic Snow ... should be fine, yeah? Probably can even throw in the spare, 75 W, HD 3850

Bad news for your 3850, several years ago F@h cut off everything lower than the 5xxx series. I still have a brand new in the box 4830, grrr.

Gah. What'd they go and do that for when we've still got old GPUs?

'll have to be the spare 7750 then...

Re: TR Frankenbot 2016: It's Alive!

Not sure it's in the spirit of the frankenbot, but I'm guessing my money would be much better spent helping TR buy some hardware than throwing my old clunker at it with my admittedly cheap but coal-derived electricity.

Apologies if I'm bringing up things that were tried and rejected in the past (saw some related things in 10-year old f-bot threads, but nothing recent), just wondering if Frankie's, umm, brain trust, has any suggestions for how somebody could pitch in financially to join in the fun?

For instance, I know I'd be willing to chip in to buy a (GPU + electricity + a bit of depreciation costs) if somebody had a host body to donate, and then there could be some kind of raffle to give away the GPU at the end? Like, donations in $20 increments get one "ticket" in the raffle, with whomever volunteers to be Dr Frankenstein getting some free tickets in the drawing for being a mensch? I know I'd be willing to chuck in $20 for decent odds of getting a slightly abused 1060/1070. Basically we could get an additional ~10M points for every $250 raised, which would be a big bump for 'ol frankie, and could help more people get on board. Or renting a K80 at Amazon for $22/day (not as good of a deal, and no raffle fun, but logistically easier).

thoughts?
