Re: TR Frankenbot 2018; wow, is it that time already?

I'm pulling way under where I should be on my RX Vega 56, around 300k, haven't had the time to figure out why. Client v. 7.5.1, driver v 18.9.2, clocks staying above 1.5 GHz

The Windows 10 install to the other machine won't let the BD drive work, so the RX 580 is still in the parts box :cry:

Edit 2 hours later: it was stupid and my fault. I'd been letting the CPU folding slot run. This was an advantage last time I ran FAH, though that was with 7.4.4 and I have since turned off HT on the CPU.

My PPD was looking okay when I fired up the afterburners for TRFrankenbot, so it is either that I didn't let it bed in long enough to notice the poor performance, or that some CPU workloads are now sufficiently taxing that they compromise the machine's ability to run the GPU slot workload, so much so that total PPD takes a hit of 30-50%

FWIW, this box has 32 GB RAM, not sure if that means it might get some bigger memory jobs or not.

So after clean installing nvidia 411.70 drivers this afternoon, I've had three WU failures. I've since tried fully removing the driver manually and then reinstalling it, I'm not sure if it helped yet though. Currently I am not overclocking my 1070 either so I hope it isn't a stability problem. Is anyone else having issues with the latest driver and Folding?

I was having some OpenCL issues when I first fired it up earlier (on 411.70 and GTX 1080) but I did a clean install all seems fine now?

Ok, so we've got 5 people stating they're pulling in >600k PPD. Should see about >375k points per 3 hour time slot and >3M PPD now if everyone stays online 24/7.

Make sure you're folding under TRFrankenbot and you have the passkey.

After a couple successful WUs I think I've got everything back up and running. Sitting at an estimated 720k PPD with just +5% on the core voltage and a faster fan speed. The boost behavior on this card still baffles me, but it's been stable at 2063 MHz for the last 2.5 hours. It seems odd that this without a traditional overclock but I'll take it.

GTX 1060 6GB and GTX 960 2GB (both EVGA SC single fan) and now contributing ~400k and ~175k, after upgrading both systems to 399.24 from 397.64. This is for Frankie now, but afterwards I have to stay ahead of Topinio! I'm currently 4 ahead, and 2 behind JBI.
Be careful on inserting this (or any G34 chip) into the socket. Once you pull that restraining lever, it is either a good install or a piece of silicon jewelry.

I should be pulling down about 700K per day with my two 980s and CPU, as long as I don't have a freeze. So far, so good, and I'm trying to check it at least once per day and reboot if I have an issue. I'll check my logs later and see if I'm REALLY pulling that many points.

I'll probably need to start a thread on these periodic freezes; I'm sure it's something I have installed that's monkey-wrenching my system.

Yeah! We're projecting for 4.2M points today.
Tally:
BIF = 700k-800k
MOSFET = 550k
general_tux = 700k
Topinio = 600k
Krogoth = 700k
DPete27 = 600k
DancinJack = 800k ?
PhilipMcc = Not confirmed.

I check both my systems morning and night to make sure they're still working as they should, but I'm undervolting and adjusting clocks trying to see what really affects PPD (Core or RAM frequency). Sure is nice getting 300k PPD from an RX480 pulling 90W though. My one machine is running reliably, but the other resets itself to "auto" voltage every morning/afternoon when I check it. Then I reapply my undervolt profile in WattMan and the voltages are all messed up for each state until I restart. I've even tried loosening the [modest] undervolt to what the auto voltage applies and I get the same crash. Might have to reinstall the driver.

This next stats collection window at Extreme OC should be pretty encouraging. I just checked my logs and I've already received 147k points since the last window closed 40 minutes ago.

That coin-mining rig up for sale at BBQ would have come in handy for this project.

It's looking like it could be 650k from the Vega 56, plus 50k from round about now from the 1030 -- but, hey, every little helps...

I plan to add a 650Ti as soon as I unearth my thermal compound and assemble the system. Plus the first of next week I will ask my son to switch his part time 1070.

I woke up this morning and my rig had frozen; not sure when that happened, but it was sometime over the night. After a successful warp core restart, it's running now.

According to Extreme OC, Frankie touched 3.5 million yesterday, NICE NICE NICE!

Ugh, AMD 18.9.3 driver is a dumpster fire. Suddenly I can't even tighten up my GPU voltage by 0.05V under what "auto" voltage applies despite more than that being perfectly stable previously. Driver crashes in less than an hour, resets everything back to "auto", requires full PC reset to even properly re-apply frequency/voltage WattMan profile.

Make sure you're checking your rigs daily. Based on those who've chimed in about their PPD (assuming everyone is folding 24/7), we should be seeing between 550k-600k points in each 3 hour time slot.

I do wonder if my points aren't being counted towards Frankie. It's either that or, based on Extreme OC's numbers, my rig contributed about 30% of the total in a few windows yesterday. Has the passkey changed since 2016?

Edit: For the most recent window, the point total for Frankenbot was 425,078. My logs show two WU being completed during this window, for 50,319 and 93,933 points each, bringing my total to 144,252. This is ~34% of Frankenbot's total. This seems really odd to me based on the production everyone else has mentioned. Can we all check that we are contributing to the correct ID/passkey?

BTW people with Nvidia cards, i'd suggest getting off of 411.70 or whatever it is. Go back or update to the new one, but more than one of us had issues with it.

Nvidia 399.24 from 09/10/2018 is stable here on 1060, 960, and 660. It's what Windows 10 1803 updates to when you update through Device Manager. I have GeForce Experience installed since I also have a Shield TV, but I dislike the monthly driver release cycle for my cards which are all older than two years, so I'm accustomed to ignoring GFExp.

It's not a true Frankenbot if it isn't an AMD APU with an nvidia GPU running a Freesync display via framebuffer passthrough.

Oh, and add an intel Optane stick into the mix.

It looks like Frankenbot's production bounced back about 12 hours ago. Hopefully we are now back to ~3M PPD. Is there anyway to tell how many active clients are contributing within the last 24 hours?
