Using an Xbox for F@H

Sun Nov 24, 2002 2:15 pm

Has any one here tried moding an xbox, loading up linux - then running the folding@home client under linux?

I'm thinking if it runs decient 199.95+50=260 after shipping wouldn't be a bad cruncher.

Any one out in folding land but those green boxes to use in this fashon?

I'm on it. Just found a no-solder mod-chip. If it shows up, I'll update my thread.

Yup. It's called the Matrix no solder mod chip, though you have to flash the chip when you get it and FTP to the box to install a new dashboard but thats the fun of it :) . But good luck with FOH and the Xbox. The Linux port is kinda rough and so far the system freezes when you run it :

./FAH3Console-Linux.exe

Not quite ready for prime time.
