How are points added up?

I am curious on how points are figured. I have 35 WU's done and only 1473 pts. I have the <5mb option disabled. If I enable it, will the pts increase? Sorry for the newb post, but I AM new to folding. Thanks.

Looks like you have been working on small WUs with the single core client. That seems reasonable. Setting the "Enable large WU (>5MB)" option may get you something, but AFAIK these days those bonus WUs are few and far between. SMP WUs are the rage these days.

What system(s) do you have?

I'm currently just using my homebuilt PC to fold. C2D 6300, 2 GB of RAM on Windows XP SP2. I just recently started using a second consule to fold on both cores. Changed the Machine ID to use both cores when it runs over night and during the day while I'm at work. The # of WU's is going quickly as I have only been folding for a week now, but the pts are discouraging. I would rather not use SMP clients as they seem rather buggy.

When you are doing <200 ppd, you will have to decide if running SMP and getting 1000+ ppd is worth it.

K, I'll look into it. Do you run 2 intance's of the SMP's for the C2D's like the console's? or does it automatically use both cores? I leave my PC on 24/7 so I'll start looking up more info. Thanks, Fox. 8)

One client can use up to four cores at a time, so your C2D would work perfectly with just one SMP client.

If you leave your PC on 24/7, you're likely not to run into any problems. I've had my SMP client running for two weeks now on an X2 5400 @ 3.1, and have run into no problems.

Just wanted to add that SMP stands for symmetric multiprocessing.

Very Cool. 8) I was never even curious as to what it meant, I just liked the points. But now that I know, I'll throw the term around in conversation to sound hip! :D
