F@H vs RC5-72

Sun May 18, 2003 10:36 pm

when I get my order in (new safe PSU and SLK800) should I
A: do fold @ home
B: RC5-72

I have no clue how to do folding, and it would cost our RC5-72 team a lot to lose me for good.

but folding actually does something...

Yeah, I was an RC5 guy too, back when RC5-64 was running. When that ended, I didn't participate in any distributed computing projects for a while; then I got interested in folding. I figure it is better to participate in a project that will actually benefit somebody.

By all means, fold. Not only is it just as addictive as any other distributed computing project, but it can save lives. Plus, our folding team could really use the help right now.

Of course as the founder of The TR RC5-72 team I would like to see you stay with the Rc5 team, but the choice is yours, I cant force people to do it lol... You would be missed, but either way, you are always welcome to crack RC5 for the team any day!

ok, I've made up my mind. I will fold with my main rig, and keep secondary computers on RC5-72

my XP2400 o/c to 2800-3000 levels (I'm at 2800 on stock cooling, SLK-800 coming!!!) will do F@H for you guys. I hope this will help everyone.

I have recuited for RC5-72, so it's all good there. I think I'll end up with my main rig on F@H then a 1.2ghz celeron (mothers) and a PII350 (cs server) on RC5-72

Forge - Glad your onboard. :D You will be a great asset to the team.

SpotTheCat - Thanks for keeping a few boxes going, anything you can throw at us will help.

Morph, I may be able to throw a P3 450 to help you out. I just got to get some time to get the thing working, but I will be running my "limited edition B&W voodoo 5 card" (TM) in it. That should speed it up because it does not have to process the color, so it should just fly through everything.

Hahah I like the card.

Anyway folding is better cause it is actually helping people. The other project is IMO a waste of cycles. :-? But if you are not going to fold why not join the other TR team. :)
Shake it to the limit!

YBK, I already have 6 machines folding so I can give up one of my slowest ones to help out morph. It is only a junk box with not to much memory, so it should not make too much of a difference. I am planning on getting my dual P3 up and folding by the end of the week to help with the folding. That should more than make up for the P3 450 I am loosing.
