I'm going to make the change over Sunday night or Monday morning. I found the issue with my old Core Duo system and I will be putting that into the mix, assuming my fix still works when the time comes.

I will be making the changeover Monday so that all of my points for October will be toward Frankie. The Firehorse is coming into port and its crew will go on R&R for a month!

I shall start adding some units to Frank On the 31st.
We did 4 million last year. 20 million is a bit much I think.
Depends on participation.

Thirty days hath September...

Monday is 9/30. :D

Yes, I also think 20 Million points may be a bit of a push. But 10 Million may be a good goal to set our sights on!

Three systems online. I'll bring a fourth over in the morning. The fifth will not be online for a day or two while I work out kinks bringing one of the old PIII's back to life.

Since many people are already switching their folding machines over to Frankie, here's a helpful reminder to all. The proper spelling is...

TRFrankenbot

...just like that. Before you switch, please PM DancinJack for the passkey. You can't use your own passkey when you switch over to Frankie. Well, you can, but it will mess things up and make it impossible to figure out what's what. And when you switch back in November, you'll need to go back to your original passkey or we give you the "TRTurkey" award.

Flying Fox wrote:
Forum member DancinJack has the passkey. Passkeys are not supposed to be published around so we usually just spamPM him for it. So when you switch your user name you need to switch the passkey as well.

EDIT:

It's Monday night and my last September work unit just finished, so I have now switched over to TRFrankenbot. With luck, I'm good for about 110,000 PPD and my first WU for Frankie will either come in at the 3 AM checkpoint (with only about 10 minutes to spare), or will show up at the 6 AM checkpoint.

Full steam ahead!

Looks like Frankie has a pulse. Just finished up switching my Laptop over.

I have the passkey if any one needs it. Just send me a PM and I will send it to you asap.

95,500 points today at the noon checkpoint. Assuming that's not a fluke and if we can improve on it anyway, we'll be able to net a million points every 5-6 days.

I thought you said those x17's can net a few million points easy? Assuming we have at least 2 people doing those WUs, that's why I floated the 20 million number. What are the going rates on those?

Re: TR Frankenbot 2013

On my system with only the single 7980 GPU, I'm getting about 92K PPD. The CPU, a 3930K, is averaging only about 16K PPD.

GPU points are lucrative, and I'm just plain greedy, so that's why I want to put a 7990 (or TWO) into my new server, so I can double or quadruple that. Assuming drivers work okay, I can probably use my old Q6600 cpu and still bring in about 200k PPD. It's just coming up with the $1300 for the graphic cards that's the problem at the moment!

BTW, I think the bonus points are based on "how much early" you return the WU. The earlier, the more points. The later, the fewer points. I get a lower bonus (it seems) if I shut down folding to play 6 hours of Civ V.

Depending on other activities, I'm bringing in about 3 million to 3.2 million per month with my current system (see sig).

EDIT:

It looks like Frankie is at 172K PPD for today, on track to break 200K. It's looking great so far but I want to see what we can do for the rest of this week before I start convincing myself we could break 20M this month. I just don't want to jinx us!

EDIT EDIT:

Wait a minute, my sig says it's only a 7970! What the hell did I build this system with?
Intel i7 6850K, Gigabyte GA-X99 Designare EX, 64 GB DDR4 Kingston HyperX, two Geforce 980 cards, EVGA 1200W PSU, and various SSDs and HDDs

Do I get a cookie for the 7980 card you have?
I only have a 7970.
Moved over 3 cpu's and one GPU today. More later!

Fuzzhead is still doing ~500K ppd. As he moves some of his farm that number will drop. Step 1 for Frankie is try to be near the top of team TR in terms of production. If we can get to 500K ppd, then 10-15 million for the month is not out of reach.

I agree.

This is interesting: "Active Clients within 7 Days: 24"

So we have 24 sets of CPUs and GPUs going right now. Hopefully we'll see that rise in the coming days as more people bring parts of their farms online to Frankie.

Already this morning at the 6 am checkpoint, we've made 185,500K points, so we're on track to smash even yesterday's number!

I can feel the extra heat coming off of my PC this morning!

CPU temp is oscillating between 56C and 57C every 10 seconds or so, and the CPU fan keeps bouncing back and forth between 2100 and 2800 RPM. I've got the max CPU temp set to 58C 56C in the BIOS so apparently it is kicking the fan into high gear when the temp hits 57C, which then quickly brings the CPU temp back down again. Lather, rinse repeat. The constantly changing fan speed is somewhat annoying (it's pretty quiet at 2100 RPM, but very noticeable at 2800). Guess I need to go play with the fan speed control settings; if I can just get it to run at a constant ~2400 RPM and keep the CPU temps below ~60C I'd be happy with that.

Edit: Much better now. Tweaked the fan speed profile for a more gradual ramp up as the temperature rises, and raised the core temp at which the fans switch to full speed operation, to 60C. CPU temps seem to have settled in at 58C, with the fan staying at ~2100 RPM. I can live with that.

I need that heat, these past few days have been very cool...

As of the time of posting Frankie is already at 88k ppd and is solidly on the top producers leaderboard. From the projections he will pass notfred and leor before long.

I am one of those. Nothing too powerful, an i5-950 and working on getting a Q6600 online.

The i5 is online, but behaving a little strangely. It has a 5xxx GPU, that sucked up everything and was getting nothing out of the CPU. So I removed the GPU and the CPU started working, but was only taxing total CPU at 50%. So I set the slots manually 1-4. I think I may still have to turn affinity on.

You mean i7-950? That means you can do 8 threads. You need the -smp 8 parameter.

if you want a core for GPU, then you can do -smp 7 and leave a "virtual core" for the GPU. This is what my 875K will be configured.

Yes, bonus is based on turnaround time.

This calculator will calculate the expected bonus for you. In the TPF fields enter the number of minutes and seconds it is taking to process one frame. If you want to see what effect shutting the client off for some period of time will have, figure out your approximate average time per frame over the entire WU including the downtime and enter that in the TPF fields.

499K points for today and we still have one more checkpoint. My GPU slot is due to add >27K points in just about 10 minutes, so even if there were no other points (but we know there will be), we'd break a half-million today at the close.

I think Frankie is now wearing his ass-kicking boots. What a fantastic start this year!

Just turned in the first two WUs from my pair of 8-core FX systems.

This AM the UPS under my desk started screaming about an overload. Fortunately one of the other systems plugged into that UPS is an older, non-essential secondary system. Looks like I can't have everything at my desk powered up while the FX is folding... tonight I untangle the mess of cords under the desk and move some stuff off the UPS!

Going by my very rough calculations, adding up the points in the last 24 hour period, we are currently about 80k points short of what we need each day to make it to 20 million points for the month. Not to mention what ever short fall we had the first few days. I forgot to write down how many points Frankie had before we got started so I am not sure what we have officially added up to this point.

I think there are still a few people switching systems over so hopefully we will have some increase in our point production.

I've still got another 8-core AMD I'm hoping to bring online over the weekend. That won't get us another 80K/day, but it'll make a decent dent in it.
