Yeah, there is no fixing this guys habits. He is well entrenched into his ways ahaha. No, but I'm too nice of a guy and I'm going to be having to right off a **** ton of time
. Before when we did work for the guy, I put about 7-8 hours worth of time into getting him up and running right, back and forth on-site. All he paid to the other tech company........ $75, which he just recently wrote a check for almost 1 year later lol. I was doing contract work for that other small business and the guy running it goes (after the fact) "Hey, this time... you can bill him directly".................... Great, because that's what I want to do.
So considering I spent almost 12 hours this time, back and forth lol. I'm going to break it down to this. $75 for virus removal (although I usually charge $125 if its hardcore like his was), then $125 for Windows 7 reinstall with drivers and $45 for data migration, all 500-600 gb of it.............
In reality there was so much more going on there than ever before because I had to do a lot of those things multiple times, walk him through steps because it was insisted that he drive not me lol. I removed viruses/scare-ware off of his machine TWICE even after that fresh install. I mean I'm completely at a loss on this one.
$245.... and I know he will complain about it. The last time he received the bill which was cut in half, he asked the owner of the other company how much time did the tech (me) actually spend on it, and he said "Well, maybe an hour and a half", yeah somehow 8 hours is only worth 1 1/2 hours. lol.
Most customers are an in and out sort of deal. I don't know how this guy does it but its impossible to break even with him. Next time he goes to call, I may just have to tell him I'm 3 weeks out.
