In the middle of a WU, I upgrade my drivers from the "current" WHQL 175.19 drivers to the latest beta NVIDIA has publicly available, 177.79
With the same WU, PPD went from ~2900 to ~4600 Avg. time per step went from over 2 minutes to 1:30

Thanks, it's nice to contribute to the cause! GPU-based folding has really renewed my interest in folding, especially after being frustrated by SMP issues, and the output from the standard client as far as PPD goes is so little by comparison now. I know it's for a good cause, and the standard clients are still important, but we all know the competition of the whole thing is really what drives interest in it.
As an aside, I've started to wonder if this whole effort is a wise use of resources... Cancer research is important, but is conserving energy usage (global warming, not to mention rising energy prices) something that should take precedence in the short-term? I've made my decision based largely on the fact that I end up leaving at least a couple of machines on 24/7 in my house already as it is, so the added energy consumption is probably negligible, especially compared to the kWH the A/C uses this time of year. And in the winter, we need to heat the house anyhow... ; Although electricity is more expensive than the natural gas the furnace uses, it is somewhat more likely to come from a more renewable source (hydro-electric), though it could come from coal (even worse, at least from current coal plants). Not to mention I drive a 12 year old V8-powered gas guzzler on my daily commute, so I'm probably just a hypocrite.
