Ok, someone in NY must have washed thier car and fired up the BBQ too... what is this tropical crap you guys are sending up here from FL? At least send the heat with it, it is cold and rainy out there! This summer is just plain obnoxious. Arg!

It was supposed to be sunny, and now they are calling for rain due to this crud.

Oh well, perhaps I will go get DOOM3 after all if I am stuck inside.

I thought they fizzled over land before they hit Tampa. Well I suppose that is if they come from the East. I hope everyone makes it out OK without losing thier homes or life! I was reading the NOAA forcast down there, and I would be **** bricks if I lived in a dumpy house.

Nicest place to watch the storms from is the QC campus -- I stant at the head of the Quad and watch Manhattan get drenched (or fried by lightning, if it's that kind of storm) -- then duck into the library when it gets to me. :)

Tampa is on the coast! I am in Orlando. We'll see what happens!
Go here for the latest maps! http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphic ... 0908.shtml?

Whoopsie, I always get them mixed up. My grandparants lived in Orlando, and I flew into Tampa a few times. Getting my signals crossed again :-(.

Do me a favor and take some pictures of before and after! I wanna see. Is it true they are evacuating 1M+ people from Tampa now?

This Hurrican is great for business up north though. Our largest competitiors headquarters are in Florida, and that had to close shop because of the Hurrican. 95% of their customers are our customers too...guess who they are buying from today.

Wow, I didn't think you would get a direct hit like this, but it was amazing to see it line it's crosshairs right up on Orlando after I posted my little error there. I have been watching it all afternoon, and that thing is one big steamroller!

My prayers are with you and your family (as well as my poor grandma!).

At least it has weakened a bit since it landed, before that it looked like a giant red donut on the radar. Yikes! I'll take 3 feet of snow any day over that crud. At least I can snuggle up to a fire rather than the water heater in the basement!

Good luck.

p.s. keep the pics coming. You can really see how the clouds are all twisted up in that feeder line shot, great viewpoint! No wonder tornadoes spout from those types of clouds.

well we haven't even come close to being hit yet...we've had 2 inches of rain so far (you can see the make-shift rain guage in the yard there, a pitcher inside a cinder block) i the last 3 hours or so...have everything outside put inside and the stuff on our screened in porch stashed in the spa which has our table upside-down on top of the lid holding it on...it's crazy...the wind is going pretty good
and crap my computer just shut down (hurray for batter powered laptops :P)
hoping for the best...i'll keep ya'll posted

Why was that image removed by Kevin?

Don't mean to be a PITA, but it's a publicly available, free web image that anyone on earth can look at. I'm fairly confident the federal government isn't losing advertising revenue by having someone load their image. In fact, I think they're probably saving bandwidth.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I am not leaching off someone else's bandwidth. That the GOVERNMENT's bandwidth. WE PAID for it with tax dollars. So in essence, it IS our bandwidth! :)

I did not remove the image. Anyone can still see the image by clicking the link. I did, however, remove the image tags since I find "hotlinking" to be very annoying, regardless of the fact that it's a government server. You provide proof that you have permission to hotlink the image, then you can put the image tags back.

In that case I paid for part of their OC-192 lines so I should get a piece of that too.

I suppose, Kevin.

I should probably just keep my keyboard silent (or whatever), since all too often images irk me because people don't size them to fit in my browser window anyway.

Sorry to be a bother.
