Favorites Icons

Sun Jul 27, 2003 2:35 pm

Ok, im just curious to know why, in my favourites menu, all of my bookmarks specific icons vanish after clearing my IE history...except for Toms Hardware? Happens every time. Naturally id prefer the TR logo to stay, but it doesnt and TH does. Why?!

P.s. Are there any cool TR desktop images doing the rounds? If there are id like to see them. Thanks!

Perhaps because the icons are stored in the temp files location on your HDD?

easy.

the web host or whatever page yer going to has to have an icon file
in their base/root directory (ie: /var/www/favicon.ico)

then within their index.php/index.htm or whatever is the first page that
the consumer views, the code has to have this in it:

<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="<?php echo $url ?>favicon.ico">

or the HREF (if not using php) can contain the real domain name.

My Computer -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software ->

-> Microsoft -> Windows -> CurrentVersion -> Explorer ->

-> ComDlg32 -> OpenSaveMRU -> ico

Does IE clear the registry entries everytime you delete the history then? Since he said that all the icons go away
