Space Tourism – Sooner Than You Think

While seeing an astronaut launch into space can be thrilling, have you ever imagined that you could go into space yourself? A new era, the era of Space Tourism, is about to begin. Enterprises like SpaceX and other commercial space companies are trying to fly private citizens into space. The goal is to allow them to take a trip around the Earth.

Considerations for Civilian Space Tourism

While space flight is a remarkable achievement, it is important to note that certain of the operations, including landing and take-off, can be hazardous. Astronauts train for years in order to get in shape for their trips in space. Their flight surgeons keep a close eye on them at all times during the space voyage.

Astronauts must exercise for at least two hours per day while on a space mission. They must do this in order to keep their muscles from atrophying in zero gravity. Therefore, any long-term ventures beyond Earth will necessitate some attempt to preserve the bodies of the people while they are gone.

While space tourists will not be in space for long periods of time, they must be physically ready for the G-forces astronauts must endure as the rocket takes off. In addition, the descent can be equally difficult and taxing.

Physical Capabilities of Space Tourists

To begin, the rocket must overcome the gravitational pull during liftoff. This necessitates immense force to counteract dynamic pressures within the atmosphere. This happens over an eight-minute period. Furthermore, it puts a great deal of physical strain on the astronauts’ backs.

Essentially, current spacecraft designs, such as the Dragon, are specially built to accommodate the physical capabilities of the astronauts. Therefore, the astronauts are positioned in such a way that the strains on their bodies are at a minimum.

Similarly, during landing, the opposite consequences occur. This requires the use of proper bracing positions. Therefore, to preserve the physical system, it will be necessary to remain still throughout takeoff and landing. Physical issues must be taken into account at all times.

The Price of Space Tourism

In addition to the physical strains during launch and landing, there is the price of the mission. The cost of sending astronauts to places like the International Space Center, costs around $80 million per astronaut. This is one of the reasons that initiatives like the Commercial Crew Missions exist.

Funding was an issue in former ages when rockets were not reusable. However, we are currently living at a time when rocket reusability is increasing. Therefore, we, as people, will be able to affordably fly on rockets, just as we can now fly on planes.

However, we must account for an innovation curve in our calculations. This is a curve that we are currently in the early stages of. As a result, the first space tickets will be on the expensive side. However, if you’re young enough, you might want to wait a couple of decades for prices to drop. Basically, if you’re healthy enough, you may start planning a family vacation to space right now.

Who is in charge of the civilian space missions?

Space Adventures is the organization that is pioneering space trips. The present pricing schedule is still under examination.  However, those who are ready to pay the price will have their preparations made accordingly. Civilians will be traveling onboard a SpaceX Dragon spaceship. It will orbit the Earth at a height of about 750 miles. The Dragon Capsule is currently in the testing phase to see if it can meet the mission requirements.

NASA and Commercial Crew Missions

As a result of NASA’s recent success with Commercial Crew Missions, the move to civilian crew missions will be conceivable. In the coming years, keep an eye out for this. SpaceX has been dominating modern commercial activities as an innovator. Furthermore, they are deserving of their achievement. Virgin Galactic, out of Europe, is similarly ready to be the next commercial crew activity. They are currently constructing space tourism facilities near the United States.
