Intel hiring staff for 'leading edge graphics'

Speculation regarding a purported high-end gaming graphics processor from Intel is still running wild. On Monday, The Inquirer reported that the GPU would come out in the late summer or early fall of 2007, and now it's X-bit labs' turn to throw some fuel on the fire. The site has discovered an Intel job posting on CareerBuilder that asks for a Graphics System Architect to work on "leading edge graphics technologies." Requirements for the job—other than a B.S. and four years of experience—include:
  • Work experience developing high performance CPU and graphics platforms
  • Experience defining micro-architecture specifications given a high level architecture specification
  • Knowledge of software-hardware tuning and optimization
  • Performance modeling of complex CPU and graphics architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of current graphics architectures and implementations
Aside from a Graphics System Architect, Intel is also looking for a 3D Graphics Software Engineer, a Senior Software Graphic Developer/Architect, and a Graphics Technology Marketing Director. The 3D Graphics Software Engineer will "maximize the 3D graphics features of Intel® Extreme Graphics technology" in upcoming DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.0 projects. The Marketing Director, meanwhile, will be expected to "build and manage a high performing technical marketing team to deliver best in class graphics products."
