ATI's Intel chipset business doomed?
During a trip to ATI's headquarters, Paul Corsini from Italian site
Hardware Upgrade had a chance to get
some first-hand information
regarding the future of ATI's chipsets for Intel processors. We've
already heard that ATI's upcoming Intel-bound RD600 chipset will materialize
in the near future, and
the Hardware Upgrade report echoes this information. However, the report
says that after the RD600 chipset hits the streets, ATI will begin
reassigning its Intel chipset staff to work on AMD chipsets. Hardware Upgrade adds that ATI plans to reduce the size of its Intel
chipset business by half in 2007. The red team reportedly expects to
stop selling Intel chipsets altogether by 2008. Thanks to Beyond3D
for the tip.
