In a move that’s sure to make Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer throw a chair or two, Google CEO Eric Schmidt has joined Apple’s board of directors. Schmidt says Apple is one of the companies he most admires, and that he is “really looking forward to working with [Apple CEO Steve Jobs] and Apple’s board to help with all of the amazing things Apple is doing.” Before joining Google, Schmidt was Chief Technology Officer of Sun and Chairman and CEO of Novell, successively. According to a Silicon Valley analyst quoted by AFP, Schmidt’s presence at Apple could herald a partnership between Apple and Google that may see the two companies working together in the multimedia field.
