Alienware to grow its presence in the enterprise

While Alienware's PCs are typically aimed at gamers and home users, the company is planning to increase its presence in the business and government sectors. Alienware currently makes only 10% of its revenue from business and government accounts, but it believes Dell—its new parent company—can help give it a bigger foot in the door of those segments thanks to its better supply chain and credibility. Instead of cannibalizing Dell's sales of cheap enterprise machines, though, Alienware wants to target professional users who need to run demanding applications. Alienware Senior VP and General Manager Frank Azor told InformationWeek, "our strategy is to go after IT departments, design groups, and CAD and CAM engineers within those large organizations that have need for 10, 20 or even 100 specialized machines."
