S3 Chrome S27 does HD DVD, Blu-ray decoding

S3 Graphics has partnered with InterVideo to offer hardware acceleration for HD DVD and Blu-ray playback. WinDVD 8 will offer hardware-assisted decoding with Chrome S27 graphics cards, although it’s unclear whether the acceleration uses an on-chip video processor or is leveraging the S27’s shaders to do the math. S3 is demoing HD DVD and Blu-ray playback on S3 graphics cards at CES.
