GeForce 8600 cards to arrive in May?

Last month, we heard rumors regarding specifications for a purported line of GeForce 8600-series graphics cards from Nvidia. The folks at DigiTimes have now been told by industry sources that the cards are on track for a launch in the middle of the second quarter of this year—or, to be specific, in May. DigiTimes talks of three cards: a GeForce 8600 GT with 512MB of memory, a GeForce 8600 GT with 256MB of memory, and a presumably more cut-down GeForce 8600 GS. Concerning prices, the site says the GeForce 8600 GT 512MB will cost $219-229 at launch, while the 256MB model will be available for $199, and the GeForce 8600 GS will sell between $159 and $165. If this information is genuine, it would suggest that the $229 GeForce 8600 GT will pack more onboard memory than the newly-introduced GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB.
