Watching Top Gear's Polar Special got me thinking about adventure. I've had little ones here and there, but my greatest was probably a six-week bike trip through Europe with a high school friend of mine. We covered close to 3500 kilometers through seven countries, crossing the Alps twice—once in a blizzard. Looking back, we certainly could have been more prepared for some of the logistical, navigational, and personal challenges we faced on the trip. Fumbling through it all somehow made the adventure seem more grand, though, and that's certainly given me more interesting stories to tell as a result.
What about you? What's the greatest adventure you've ever been on or would perhaps like to undertake? Discuss.
