Almost three years after first unveiling the title, Maxis has finally announced a release date for its upcoming life simulator, Spore. Shacknews has the skinny on the announcement, which positions the release for Spore on the PC, Mac, and Nintendo DS handheld console on September 7.
According to Will Wright, the mastermind behind the title and other Maxis games, "The wait is almost over." Wright adds, "We're in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can't wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year."
For those who haven't kept track of the title, Spore allows gamers to take life forms through the stages of evolution from microorganism to galactic super-civilization. In addition to the aforementioned platforms, the game is also expected to hit Nintendo's Wii, although Maxis hasn't yet revealed a release date for that particular edition of the game.
