What single event can bring together a NASCAR race driver, a NASA shuttle commander, and a star from the hit sci-fi show Battlestar Galactica? Why, it's none other than Nvidia's upcoming Nvision 2008 visual computing show.
We've already noted Nvidia's high aspirations for Nvision '08, which the company hopes will become the new E3. Earlier today, Nvidia sent out a press release to let the world know a number of celebrities will be attending the event. When Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang starts the show on August 25, he'll be joined by Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer and multi-touch technology guru Jeff Han. The following day, NBC 11 business and technology reporter Scott Budman will conduct "a series of 1:1 interviews with remarkable people who have unique perspectives on visual computing." Those people will include former NASA shuttle commander Eileen Collins, NASCAR celebrity Kyle Busch, and game-designer-cum-movie-director Lorne Lanning.
Nvidia will wrap up Nvision 2008 on August 27 with a performance by Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage of MythBusters fame. The two hosts will show a "top secret presentation guaranteed to knock your socks off," Nvidia promises. How much Nvidia paid to bring in these guests and occupy several buildings in downtown San Jose, California might also knock your socks off, although the company doesn't boast about that part.
