Retrofit your Slot 1 board to take Coppermines

— 12:18 AM on December 3, 1999

No, Intel's new socketed Pentium IIIs won't work properly on a Slot 1 motherboard, but there is hope. A new wave of socket-to-slot converters is coming, including the Gigabyte 6R7+, the Iwill Slotket II, and MSI's MS-6905Master. These things will also accept Socket 370 (PPGA) Celerons and enable Celeron SMP. Thanks to David Bork for sending word on these new "slotkets."
