The friendly hardware man at Ace's is reporting that his sources say AMD's yields on Athlons have been so good, they're hitting speeds upwards of 1000MHz:
a good percentage of .18 micron Athlon's (Al) are yielding 1 GHz. A decent amount of Copper Athlons (better take a seat) are already hitting 1.2 GHz!! Again, Yields are way better than expected.Once again, confirmation that AMD can pretty much pick and choose when to announce the next bin of the Athlon--print up some packaging, and it's a done deal.
By the way, while at Ace's, check out their excellent 3D card comparative review for an insightful look at the fastest cards available today.
