Friday night topic: Halloween costumes

Halloween is just a few days away, and I’m horribly behind on getting a costume together. This happens every year, it seems. Usually, I end up cobbling together some kind of zombie outfit at the last minute. I’ve reused the same makeup kit for a while now, and it’s easy to shred and dirty some old clothes to complete the look. Besides, staggering around with an undead glaze is easy for those of us who have traded candy for adult beverages.

So, what are your plans for Halloween this year? Have you or your kids come up with any particularly interesting costume ideas, or do you, too, have an old faithful that gets trotted out every year? Discuss.

I went as Ash from Army of Darkness/Evil Dead. Chainsaw hand and my boom-stick. Only one person knew what I was so it wasn’t a total wash. I even had the name tag from S-Mart.

At 6′ 3″ x 200 lbs, and with a closet full of black biker leathers, and the black bike to go with them, all I needed was a pair of black Ray-Ban sunglasses to make a great Terminator. This ‘costume’ has the added benefit that /[

The amount/effort of costumes at my place of work has flatlined pretty bad. I wore a homemade orange felt pumpkin hat (imagine top 1/4 of a pumpkin with a stem) to work, but was one of the few in a factory of 100’s who did anything. Used to be at least some folks would do a whole costume, many would wear amusing hats/accessories…

    I haven’t done a full costume for years…

I wore a banana suit to my work’s halloween party during the day and then wore it out last night. You can have a lot of fun in a banana suit in Montreal.

This year I made a “Lego” costume for my 7 year old son out of stacked/staggered carboard boxes of (SunChips, Costco size box) with inverted plastic drinking cups on top for the bumps. Cut out holes for the arms and and up through the middle for his body to slide through. Spray painted each box a different color; used masking tape on the inside to hook the boxes together.

My first attempt at a homemade costume ever!

At work we did Tetris blocks. That worked out great, actually. My wife and I are going as sexy pirate and buccaneer. I wanted to be the sexy pirate, but I don’t know, something wasn’t right about wearing the mini-skirt.

valentine’s day is not a real holiday! it was made up by hallmark! i should not be expected to bend over backwa… oh? October?

i think you’re confusing valentines day with sweetest day? it seems that hallmark did not create sweetest day, but apparently a group of confectioners in the early 1900’s (so says wikipedia). *shrugs* dumb “holiday” nevertheless.
