If anything the “tablet’s will displace PC units” argument is probably flipped the other way and tablets will encourage more people to install a home network and they’ll use a PC to update their tablet. So inevitably the non-pc people will own PC’s to manage their tablets.

I think the tablet will displace laptops. Why get a laptop when a desktop is cheaper, upgradable, can use a bigger screen, etc if you can do everything you do on the laptop with the tablet?

I don’t know how many people can do their job with a tablet. There sure are a lot of people who do their job with a laptop, though.

You use a desktop because when you need it to serve a different purpose altogether. Tablets aren’t exactly bringing about some sort of technological paradigm shift. Why get a laptop without a keyboard when you can have the keyboard? That’s all they are.

Can a tablet use ACAD or autoplant?

I like the idea of a desktop for all of my gaming and heavy duty stuff, and a little table for surfing the web while sitting on the couch (maybe to browse while playing games on my TV).
