DICE shows glimpses of Battlefield 3 gameplay

The first Battlefield 3 trailer might have been exciting, but it didn't really reveal anything from the actual game. EA DICE has made up for it with a second trailer, which reveals a few brief seconds of gameplay. The new trailer has made it onto YouTube:

Assuming we are looking at genuine, real-time gameplay here, I'm impressed. We already knew the game is being built around a new engine, Frostbite 2.0, and is being designed chiefly for the PC, according to its executive producer, but that looks like impressive graphical fidelity. I'm getting the impression that this game uses more elaborate shader effects and higher-polygon geometry than other, similar titles like the Call of Duty series—just look at the smooth soft shadows, the light beams peering through those windows, and those character models. (Thanks to Rock, Paper, Shotgun for the tip.)
