While the news that Duke Nukem Forever has gone gold is mildly shocking, I'm not terribly surprised to see a trailer for Modern Warfare 3 hit the interwebs. The game isn't due out until November, but a number of details leaked out earlier this month. Now, Activision has followed up with a proper trailer for its next chapter in the Call of Duty franchise.
The trailer shows New York, London, Paris, and a landmark-free German city in the midst of heated conflict. As one might expect, the action looks chaotic and frantic with the odd nod to stealthier missions. Modern Warfare 3 appears to be sticking to the same formula that has made the series one of the biggest gaming propreties around.
I loved the action-packed thrill ride that was the original Modern Warfare. However, I have to admit that the novelty has begun to wear a little thin. While I ended up finishing Modern Warfare 2 in just a couple of sittings, I haven't felt particularly compelled to polish off the last few missions remaining in Black Ops. Of course, Black Ops was the biggest entertainment launch ever, generating over $1 billion in sales over the first six weeks. There's little incentive to mess with the forumula when it's that successful.
