So the Chromebook has lower specs than an entry level laptop, including the crappy Atom CPU, low RAM, low storage, no memory card reader, a useless OS, yet costs the same…. who would want one?

So I guess that means some 7-Eleven stores are giving away free slurpees. We’ve only had two or three days so far this “summer” that qualify as slurpee weather, and today’s not one of them, so I think I’ll pass.

It seem AMD was right to price their falgship Bulldozer against a Sandy Bridge 2600K
[url<]http://www.fudzilla.com/processors/item/23381-bulldozer-performance-figures-are-in[/url<] At the same price AMD got the better product for all applications (unless you do allot of youtube encoding)

      We’ll see.

Why does the TDP say 186W? o.O

        • sweatshopking

        CAUSE I LIKES MOAR ELECTRICITY.

also, ivy bridge is coming…… 22nm is pretty nice…

        overvoltage?

        The 8 core, 3.6ghz – 4.2ghz model is 95w TDP

          • DancinJack

I understand how things work. I was wondering why it even says 186 there though. Generally that’s info that’s in the chip somewhere and just reported to the monitoring program. CPU-Z doesn’t do “real time” TDPs. Just wondering.

        CPU-Z bug.

        • JMccovery

The same reason why on my unlocked-to-quad 555 CPU-Z says its TDP is 160W…

CPU-Z uses an algorithm that takes the stock TDP, difference between stock and overclocked voltage and spits a ‘TDP’. Though, clock speed isn’t taken into consideration: Whether I running my 555 as a dual core anywhere from 3.2 to 4.4GHz, the TDP stays at 80w, unlock to Tri-core, the TDP is listed as 120w, even if I run at 2.0GHz.

This is because it is an engineering sample. They always have far higher TDP for testing, but don’t necessarily use that much, just have a big buffer. Also TDP doesn’t directly translate into power usage.

Yeah, but that’s not why it’s shown with an outrageous TDP. [i<]That's[/i<] because CPU-Z doesn't quite know what to make of it, yet.

falgship? You’re one consonant away from having your cruise banned in Burmuda.

Just like when the spread of bluetooth headsets made it harder and harder to distinguish the yuppies (and soccer moms) from the schizophrenics, it’s getting increasingly difficult to tell the ham-fingered smartphone users from the ESL or mal-educated pubescents.

Went to Donahim Haber to find out more and Chromium doesn’t wanna insta translate. 🙁

Solved it – had to go to the main page where the translate bar figured it out when I linked from it – not when I reloaded the original page. Strange.

That makes Bulldozer look OK… for the price. But how long will it be competitive?

Just a random thought. I am starting to suspect that Ronald is not actually a single human, but rather a large group of organized gerbils. After all, AFAIK no one has ever seen Ronald in person. I can imagine an office building with many floors with thousands of gerbils browsing the web to look for stories, while the editing staff and managers are running around busily.

I don’t think he has a problem with them at all….he simply ignores them entirely and goes however far he wants, that is the opposite of having a problem with boundaries really.
