Join us at TR BBQ 2011 on Saturday, maybe win an E-350 mobo

That’s right: those who attend the TR BBQ VIII this weekend will have a chance to win a motherboard with an integrated Brazos APU, the Gigabyte E350N-USB3, thanks to the generosity of the folks at AMD. Here’s a shot of a bunch of those boards stacked cheerfully in the BBQ’s beachside setting. I believe six of them will be up for grabs in various ways, as drfish explains here. You could win one if you can make your way up to beautiful Holland, Michigan this weekend.

I’d say more, but I’ve got to go pack. I’m driving up there today and will be making my first appearance at this excellent TR community tradition.

In sorta-kinda related news, last night’s short-notice TR meetup here in the KC metro had a nice turnout, all of the highest quality sorts of individuals. Thanks again to everybody who turned up. Lots of engaging conversations were had, although the time seemed too short. I’ve attached a quick gallery of pictures from the event below. Folks are welcome to identify themselves if they wish. I’ve gotta hit the road!

Too bad I live on the other side of the world. I would have attended if I lived closer.

You know, every year I feel more and more like going just to get a feel for what kind of people poke around here… more so because all the social ones will actually go. I’d sort of feel out of place because it seems like everyone knows each other and a lot of work goes into making this sort of thing happen, I’d just feel like a loafer. I do live in central WI though… perhaps next year…

By central wisconsin do you mean Wisconsin Rapids? Because only people from wisconsin rapids identify themselves as from Central Wisconsin.

Free schwag is the biz. This should happen at future events too. Only to turn the fun meter to 11.

I can’t. it’s too far away. plus you’re all a bunch of nerds, and since i’m such a cool guy, it would probably damage my HUGE popular image in michigan. Maybe if there’s a jock contest i’d show up. But for a bunch of geeks….? puleaz!

In all fairness Damage had about 6 emails from me detailing all the different possible things that AMD might do… I can understand losing track… 😉

I was considering bringing an Atom board to give away but, really… it’d be like bringing a fish to a gun fight.
