Third time’s the charm, right? AMD has released a third Catalyst 11.10 "Preview" driver, combining the unified Rage and Battlefield 3 support of the Version 2 driver (and the long list of associated bug fixes) with the following improvements:

  • Reduces random crashing and stability encountered when playing Rage on Windows® 7 32-bit edition
  • Reduces object / animation flickering and texture corruption encountered when playing Rage
  • Reduces stuttering seen on Dual CPU and Tri CPU core systems

The Catalyst 11.10 Version 3 Preview Driver is available from this knowledge base entry on AMD’s website. Installers can be downloaded for Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

AMD’s Terry Makedon, who posts as CatalystMaker on Twitter, says this driver is essentially identical to the final, Microsoft-certified Catalyst 11.10 release due later this month. He says the final 11.10 Catalysts are scheduled for October 31.
